The Light of Joy

A hardscrabble life infused with abuse was the bleak future for the five Jacobs sisters. At the turn-of-the-century, most impoverished women in their rural, Arkansas timber town were little better than chattel, subservient to men in every respect. Escape was the sisters’ only chance for freedom from that dire existence. Jenny Jacobs, the oldest, was their beacon. Her special gifts guided them through life’s darkest tunnels into the warm embrace of the sun. This is a story of family, blood or otherwise. This is a story of acceptance.
