Broken Cookies

Eve Piccolo felt like a broken cookie, you know the
ones; they are left on the plate until all the perfect cookies
are taken. It wouldn’t be so bad except there was always
someone in school to point out the fact that she carried
imperfections.

Accepting the name calling as true, Eve went on
about her business believing she would never measure up to
what they considered beautiful. While her classmates only
saw her outward appearance, Eve cultivated a beautiful
heart. When her body caught up with her physical features,
she was lovely on the inside and outside; by then it was too
late, she was past school age and convinced she would never
measure up.

Walt was a broken cookie that moved into her town.
He limped because of an injury in his youth and learned the
hard way not to socialize with the flawless girls.
Eve and Walt would have been perfect for each
other had some of the matchmakers in town not decided
that Eve’s talent for painting on Christmas ornaments, and
taking first place in the cake decorating competition at the
State Fair, made her too good for the likes of Walt Livingston.
What man (or in this case woman) meant for evil, God used for good.
