37 Days in a Strange World is an action filled, fantasy-adventure, story about survival. Eighty-five people, both military and civilians, are transported to another world, another time and place. They soon discover they are caught in the middle of a war between good and evil. While trying to find a way home they are forced to fight for survival against a cruel and vicious people where the odds are stacked against them. Infighting and power struggles occur when self-preservation becomes top priority, thus turning it into a war within a war.
The story will take the reader on an emotional roller coaster. With the twists and turns, and shocking surprises, the reader will experience anger, fear, hatred, humor, and sadness. The battles are violent and brutal displaying how gross and disgusting war can be. The heartbreaking sadness is real and touching enabling the reader to feel a real sense of sorrow and loss. The anger and hatred is justified making even the most loving and forgiving among us to feel emotions they didn’t think possible. The fearful and scary scenes will put the reader on the edge of his/her seat as terror unfolds. The humor is funny!
The main character, Mykal Graves, is a normal guy caught in a bizarre situation and reluctantly pushed to become a hero in order to survive. It helps that his new best friend, Towbar, happens to be a giant who uses magic. While on a journey to discover his way home, Mykal realizes it’s also a journey of self-discovery.
During the 37 Day adventure Mykal and his friends find out how dark human nature can become. The bond of brotherhood forged in blood brings a closeness that can only be experienced in desperate trying times when lives are on the line. Like a refiner’s fire to remove impurities from precious metals, the fires of war remove selfishness changing each to willingly lay down his life for his brother. A love for the brotherhood grows strongest when the furnace burns hottest.
With death all around them and facing near death experiences daily, Mykal and his close friends recognize the transformation that occur in them in just a short period of time. Attitudes change, humor turns dark, life becomes cheap. The love of family keeps Mykal grounded and focused. Without the anchor of love to keep him in place his ship would be lost, never to return mentally and emotionally.
37 Days in a Strange World doesn’t seem like a long time but at times it is an eternity with no end in sight. The struggles, the trials, the uncertainty, the unknown, the heartaches and loss seem like more than any one person can bear. Add to that strange creatures, odd superstitious beliefs of an enemy who lives to torture and kill and you have 888 hours of amped up excitement, running-for-your-life action, all to hopefully make it back home.
